Theater can change the world for the better. In these turbulent times our youth need a safe and creative space to explore the issues of their generation. Through this work the participants will feel nurtured and empowered to find their voices and speak for the greater good.

There are 8 Parts to the Work Process

  • Theater Skills:
    Introduce basic theater skills.
  • Discussion:
Explore relevant social justice issues affecting our lives and choose which ones to investigate in greater depth.
  • Sharing:
Share our own stories and knowledge we have on the issues.
  • Exploration:
Utilize theater and improvisational exercises of Augusto Boal to creatively explore chosen social justice themes.
  • Construction:
Give form to our ideas (content), using short scenes, monologues, spoken word, poetry, visual imagery, music, and dance.
  • Rehearsals:
Finalize our choices, learn lines, block the show, build the props and costumes.
  • Performance:
    Share our discoveries.
  • Post-Performance Discussions:
    Host a community forum.

“Keni not only produces important pieces of theater, but equips others to find their voice and speak for the greater good.”
